Father Peter Kibe: priest and martyr

5 10 2008

On November 24 2008 Fr Peter Kibe and 187 others will be beatified.  I came across this article that covers Kibe`s amazing life.  If you think saints are boring read it!  The article also says

The site of his imprisonment has been preserved and is now a museum of the Tokyo martyrs. It is located not far from the cathedral. The site of execution is in another part of Tokyo.

I am going to have to look into where that is exactly and go there.

an excerpt

The man who, seeking ordination, walked most of the way from Japan to Rome, will be beatified in November

Heading the list of 188 martyrs of Japan to be beatified on Nov. 24 this year in Nagasaki is Father Peter Kasui Kibe. He is called “The man who walked the globe,” because of his remarkable journey along the arduous Silk Road in the 16th century in his quest of ordination to the priesthood.
